Who is the Aam Aadmi ? He is the most important citizen of India, universally useful, participated in every political ideology, is the most favoured by all political parties but at the same time is the most belaboured, long suffering and undefined. The aam aadmi celebrated by RK Lakshman’s cartoons has been seen as the butt of cruel jokes played by  lofty promises of political parties. They turn out later to be just puffs of oratorical smoke which quickly disperses into nothingness ! It is in his name that election manifestoes are made, political parties are created and run. He is used as the link that cobbles  contrary political parties together in their search forpower.– and he is decried as a deception by the parties that fail to get power.Agitations, bus-burning, stone-throwing are all carried out ostensibly for the aam aadmi’s well-being but it is the same aam admi who is held to ransom and pays for all the damage. Our dear  aam aadmi is made out to be all things to all people but ends up as nothing to most. He is the one that richly deserves our humble tribute.
